Buhl House oldest in Zelienople
The 10-room Buhl House was built in 1805 by Christian Buhl, who arrived in Zelienople from Germany three years earlier.
Buhl and his wife, Fredericka Dorothea Goehring, raised 11 children in the house, on his income from the furrier and hatter establishment he ran in the borough’s early days.
Buhl later became a Butler County associate judge.
Buhl House is now owned by the Zelienople Historical Society and has been returned to its original form for use as a museum.
Many Buhl family artifacts, as well as those depicting Zelienople’s history, are in the museum.
Museum tours are available by appointment by calling the historical society at 724-452-9457.
