Slippery Rock police warn against scam calls
Slippery Rock police are warning people about an uptick in scam calls and encouraging them to check the validity of the call with law enforcement.
Police said the calls reportedly are from people who sound “exactly like a family member or loved one.”
The scam caller says they are in legal trouble and asks for a large sum of money to post bail, police said. The caller usually sounds urgent and warns you not to tell anyone about the interaction.
Should you receive a call similar to this, police said you should hang up immediately. People are also encouraged to reach out to police, or the person claiming to be in legal trouble.
