Fire forces evacuation of Butler apartment building
A portion of Locust Street and possibly other streets were closed in Butler on Monday afternoon as firefighters battled a fire at an apartment building in the 400 block of Locust Street.
Sources at the scene of the fire, which started a little before 3 p.m. said the duplex was a total loss. Flames and smoke could be seen billowing from the second floor of the building and ended up spreading to other parts of the home. The fire also burned the siding off the house next door.
It was estimated about 10 people were in the triplex when the fire broke out. No one was injured.
