Franklin Township to pave road

FRANKLIN TOWNSHIP — Half of North Road will be paved starting Aug. 7.

The repaving will occur from Route 422 to Brewster Road, with the other half of the road to be paved, presumably next year, Chairman Herman Bader said.

The work is scheduled to end Aug. 11, but could end sooner if weather permits.

“We have one or two of those days in there in case of rain, ” Bader said Monday, July 7, during the monthly township supervisor meeting.

Bader said the road sees a lot of traffic from resident crossing the township from Route 8 to 422.

“We get, especially from Unionville and North Road, shortcuts for people across the township from Route 8 to 422,” Bader said.

Seeking tax collector

Supervisors also passed a motion to begin looking for a new real estate tax collector whose duties would begin in January.

Tax collector C.J. Mitchell is set to step down at the end of year, two years before her four-year term ends.

“Her term is not up, so we’ll be looking for someone to take that position and serve the final two years of the current term,” Bader said.

Bader wants to get an early start on filling the position.

“I wanted to start the process now,” Bader said. “We need to make sure it’s the right person. It’s an important position.”
