“Barbenheimer” is a term that’s been thrown around frequently. Let’s talk about it.
If you’re unfamiliar, “Barbenheimer” is a term that represents the release of two blockbuster films coming out Friday, July 21: “Barbie,” as in the pink-clad, career-driven doll, and “Oppenheimer,” as in the father of the atomic bomb.
This is not the first time two polar-opposite movies hit theaters the same day, but it’s cultivated a huge following on the internet.
In the midst of what could be an epic box office boom, Hollywood actors belonging to SAG-AFTRA, the screen actors union, have gone on strike over wage deals with big studios.
The actors are on strike alongside Writers Guild of America members, who began their strike in May.
Despite all the publicity connected to the strike, the hot topic for most people is which movie, “Barbie” or “Oppenheimer,” they should see in theaters first.
It’s a discussion the reporters have debated as well. In my opinion, I’d much rather see “Oppenheimer” first. Get the heavy, historical feelings out of the way, then cheer up in a lighthearted throng of music and dancing.
