Official: 3-vehicle crash happened when vehicle yielded to first responders on way to fire
FRANKLIN TWP — Three people were injured in a crash Wednesday afternoon, July 26 on Route 422 that happened when two vehicles yielded to an emergency vehicle on its way to a nearby fire, officials said.
The rear-end collision was reported just before 4:30 p.m. near the intersection of Route 422 and Dick Road.
A car rear-ended a truck and a second car simultaneously rear-ended the first one, state police Cpl. Daniel Istik said.
A female driver was flown to a Pittsburgh hospital with a laceration to her leg, Istik said. Another driver was transported by ambulance for injuries, and yet another driver was treated at the scene, he said.
Departments that responded to the crash included Unionville Volunteer Fire Company, Butler Ambulance Service Company, STAT MedEvac and state police.
Traffic on Route 422 near its intersection with Dick Road was briefly stalled due to the crash.
