Butler County under a severe thunderstorm watch Friday
The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for parts of Western Pennsylvania, including Butler County, until 8 p.m. Friday, July 28.
A severe thunderstorm watch brings the potential for hail, lightning, and damaging wind to the area.
The watch comes following a heat advisory placed into effect for Friday, with temperatures in the afternoon climbing into the 90-degree range. Updated outlooks from the National Weather Service in Pittsburgh called for a maximum heat index of 100 degrees in Butler County by the afternoon.
