The start date for the school year at Chicora and Sugarcreek elementary schools will move back a week because of construction, making the new first day for elementary students in the Karns City Area School District Aug. 30.

The delay to the start of the school year for elementary students will not change the remainder of the school year calendar, according to a July 28 letter from Eric Ritzert, superintendent of Karns City Area School District.

The high school will start as scheduled, with the first student day on Aug. 23 for secondary students.
