2 hospitalized after Route 68 crash Friday
Two people, including a 12-year-old girl, were sent to the hospital following a vehicle crash on Route 68 near its intersection with Oneida Valley Road in Summit Township on Friday, Aug. 4.
According to state police, the crash occurred around 4:30 p.m. as a Jeep Grand Cherokee driven by Kenneth C. Ace, 66, traveled south on Route 68 and a Ram 2500 truck, driven by Tom E. Sawyer, 69, traveled north on Route 68.
Police said both vehicles traveled through a green light when the Jeep conducted a left turn in front of the truck. The two collided, causing disabling damage to both vehicles.
The 12-year-old passenger of the Jeep was transported by East Butler Volunteer Fire Department’s ambulance to Butler Memorial Hospital for possible injuries. Sawyer was also taken to Butler Memorial Hospital by Butler Ambulance Service.
Traffic was delayed at the intersection of Route 68 — Chicora Road — and Route 38 — Oneida Valley Road — for more than an hour Friday, according to state police.
Ace was cited for turning without a proper signal, according to the crash report.
