Mildred McClelland

Mildred A. (Stephenson) McClelland, 90, of Renfrew, passed away on Sunday, Aug. 6, 2023, at home with her family at her side.

Born July 8, 1933, in Butler, she was the daughter of William S. Stephenson and Ruth E. (Davis) Stephenson.

She was a graduate of the Butler High School class of 1951.

Mrs. McClelland married Glenn T. McClelland on Jan. 31, 1952. They celebrated 60 years of marriage before his passing on May 1, 2012.

She was proud to be a 50-plus-year cancer survivor.

Mrs. McClelland was well-known for her crocheted baby blankets, which she donated to several area charitable organizations.

She also was known for her ability to write a poem to fit any occasion, and many family members and friends were on the receiving end of a humorous poem detailing some misadventure they had experienced.

Mrs. McClelland was a member of Westminster United Presbyterian Church of Evans City, where she served in many capacities over the years such as a Sunday school teacher and a deacon; she also cooked meals for grieving families.

She is survived by her five children, Donna R. McClelland, of Renfrew, with whom she resided, Kathi J. (Luke) Frederick, of Renfrew, William J. McClelland, of Renfrew, Thomas P. (Jennifer) McClelland, of Evans City, and Robert G. (Kelli) McClelland, of Las Vegas, Nev. She also is survived by nine grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers; a sister; and one grandson.

MCCLELLAND — Friends and family of Mildred A. McClelland, who died Sunday, Aug. 6, 2023, will be welcomed from 10 a.m. Saturday until the time of the memorial service at 11 a.m. at BOYLAN FUNERAL HOME, 116 E. Main St., Evans City.

Mrs. McClelland will be laid to rest privately at Brownsdale Cemetery.

The family requests no flowers, please, due to allergies.
