Police identify motorcyclist hospitalized after Route 356 crash
State police have identified the drivers involved in a Wednesday crash on Route 356 near the intersection of Cooper Road in Jefferson Township that sent a motorcyclist to the hospital with injuries.
Police said the crash occurred when a pickup truck driven by Emily Kennedy, 18, of Butler, was traveling south on Route 356, and a van driven by Ryan J. Walters, 31, of Ford City, was traveling north on the road, followed by a Harley-Davidson motorcycle driven by Shawn Henry, 32, of Kittanning.
The crash was reported around 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 9.
Kennedy was attempting to turn left from Route 356 into a driveway near Cooper Road, according to the crash report. As she turned, her pickup truck collided with the back of the van and with the motorcycle, police said.
EMTs found Henry trapped beneath the pickup. After extraction, he was sent to UPMC Mercy Hospital in Pittsburgh via STAT MedEvac, documents showed. Police said no other injuries were reported at the scene.
The crash report shows that an investigation by state police is pending. Saxonburg Volunteer Fire Company and the state police responded to the scene.
