Louisiana man charged in connection to 2021 Forward Twp. crash

A Louisiana man was charged with aggravated assault by vehicle in connection to a crash that occurred in 2021 in Forward Township, according to state police.

Chase D. Cooper, 29, of Basile, was charged Tuesday, Aug. 15, with two counts of felony aggravated assault by vehicle, misdemeanors drug possession and reckless endangerment, as well as several traffic citations including reckless driving and speeding for the Sept. 20, 2021 incident.

Police said that at 9:16 p.m. that day, Cooper was involved in a vehicle crash in the 1300 block of Evans City Road that left two people with serious injuries.

According to police documents, witnesses reported that Cooper’s white Dodge Ram truck frequently crossed the center line while traveling north on Evans City Road that night.

Police said Cooper’s vehicle collided with a blue Dodge Ram truck traveling south. The truck was occupied by two people.

The two people in the blue truck suffered extensive injuries, including several bone fractures and concussions, according to police.

Court documents showed a small bag of suspected cocaine was found in the center console of Cooper’s vehicle following the crash.

Cooper’s preliminary hearing has not yet been scheduled.
