Dayne Herr
Dayne W. Herr Sr., 73, of Forestville, passed away unexpectedly at home Tuesday, Aug. 15, 2023.
Dayne was born Jan. 22, 1950, in Grove City. He was son of the late H. Wesley Herr and Dorothy Parnham Herr.
Dayne married Clara (Bo) Barbella on Aug. 28, 1970; she passed away Feb. 15, 2008.
Dayne graduated from Slippery Rock High School in 1967 and attended Butler County Community College. He retired from General Electric in Grove City on the turbo line. He was employed from 1979 to 2008. He was previously employed by the Office of Personnel Management in Boyers from 1970 to 1979.
Dayne was a true patriot, having served his country during the Vietnam War in the 1st Signal Company in the U.S. Army.
Dayne adored his grandchildren and always looked forward to seeing them and traveling with his family. He looked forward to barbecues where everyone would be together. He often was seen grabbing breakfast at the Family Tradition restaurant in Harrisville or out for a ride on his Harley-Davidson Road King. Dayne kept a garden to provide his family and friends with hand-grown items all summer. He was an avid Pittsburgh Sports teams fan. He enjoyed the company of his two cats, Weejr and Boo Boo. Dayne was a third degree black belt instructor at ATA in Slippery Rock. He was a member of the G.E. Golf and Pine Grove Golf Leagues.
Loved ones who will cherish Dayne’s memory are his son, Dayne Herr Jr. of Harrisville; his brother, Gary Herr of Cowansville; and his grandchildren, Dayne W. Herr III and Hayden E. Herr, both of Harmony. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Dayne was preceded in death by his parents; wife; and son, Aaron Herr, who passed away April 19, 2017.
HERR — Family will welcome friends of Dayne W. Herr Sr., who died Tuesday, Aug. 15, 2023, from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at JAMISON MCKINLEY FUNERAL HOME, 117 N. Main St., Harrisville. Funeral services will start at noon with the Rev. Terry West officiating.
Burial will take place at Prairie Cemetery in Harrisville.
The family suggests in lieu of flowers that memorial donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
