Karns City-Redbank Valley game cut short after KC quarterback collapses on field

The Friday night, Sept. 1, football game between the Karns City High School Gremlins and the Redbank Valley Bulldogs was cut short after Karns City’s quarterback collapsed.

Senior Mason Martin was taken from the field at Karns City high school’s Diehl Stadium by ambulance and then transported by helicopter to a hospital.

“At this time, we are asking that everyone takes a moment to offer their thoughts and prayers that our injured player is OK,” said Karns City superintendent Eric Ritzert.

The second half of the game had just began. It was stopped by officials at the 7:53 mark of the third quarter. Redbank Valley was ahead at the time, 35-6.

Karns City Ambulance and a STAT MedEvac helicopter responded to the scene.
