Lightning strikes Seven Fields, Adams Twp. homes Thursday morning

Emergency crews in southern Butler County were busy Thursday morning, Sept. 7, investigating several reports of lightning striking homes during a storm.

At 6:36 a.m., lightning reportedly struck a home and started an attic fire in the 100 block of Carriage Hill Drive in Adams Township. The fire was under control shortly after, according to dispatchers.

“They’re investigating and cleaning up the scene,” dispatchers said around 7:30 a.m.

In addition, two homes were reportedly struck by lightning in the 900 block of North Ridge Drive, Seven Fields borough. Crews were initially dispatched at 6:45 a.m. and cleared the scene in half an hour, dispatchers said.

“They had to check three different houses; there was no fire in any of them,” one dispatcher reported to the Eagle.

According to the National Weather Service of Pittsburgh, thunderstorms are likely in the county until 8 p.m.
