Two hundred and fifty monarch butterflies were released at Big Butler Fairgrounds in Prospect on Sunday in memory of loved ones at Lutheran SeniorLife Visiting Nurses Association’s annual Beyond Memorie Community Celebration of Life and Butterfly Release.

About 150 people were in attendance, Lutheran SeniorLife communications specialist Chris Dazen said. A violinist performed during the event, and VNA employees recited poetry.

Suzanne Grove, associate director of the VNA, led the event.
