Police Reports
The following items have been collected from various police departments and district courts:
Sept. 3 — Anthony P. Maiure, 20, of Mars, was charged with misdemeanors terroristic threats, obstructing government function and resisting arrest. Police said he refused to comply with an officer’s orders, threatened officers and continually punched and kicked the inside of a patrol vehicle and the inside of a holding cell.
Sept. 2 — Trevor J. Galbraith, 23, of Harrisville, was charged with misdemeanors resisting arrest and trespassing. Police said he refused to leave a parking lot at Butler Memorial Hospital.
Aug. 30 — Ayla M. Bey-Clark, 35, and Anthony B. Barnett, 62, both of Pittsburgh, were charged with felony theft. Police said they left Walmart with $314 worth of merchandise without paying for it.
Aug. 27 — Edward Cooley, 83, of Mars, was taken by ambulance to Allegheny Health Network in Wexford for an evaluation after the car he was driving struck a sign while traveling south on Saxonburg Boulevard in Clinton Township just before 11 a.m. and came to rest facing north.
Aug. 27 — Zachary Young, 22, of Butler, is facing felony charges of firearms not to be carried without a license, prohibited possession of a firearm and receiving stolen property; and Aaron Goshay 18, of Pittsburgh, was charged with felony counts of receiving stolen property and fleeing from police and misdemeanor charges of driving under the influence and recklessly endangering another person after police encountered a vehicle reported stolen from Pittsburgh on Main Street in Butler and pursued the vehicle that Goshay was driving. Young waived his preliminary hearing on Wednesday, Sept. 6. Goshay’s hearing is pending.
Sept. 1 — Randall A. Peevey, 45, of Butler, was charged with three counts of misdemeanor DUI after police stopped him on North Main Street, Butler City. Police said field sobriety tests showed he was impaired, and a later blood test showed traces of fentanyl, methamphetamine, and bezoylecgonine in his system. He was also found with a stamp bag, police said.
Sept. 1 — James A. Carroll III, 22, of West Sunbury, was charged with felony theft, misdemeanors unauthorized use of motor vehicles and reckless endangerment and summary criminal mischief. Police said he drove someone’s truck without permission and fired a gun.
Sept. 1 — Kelsey E. Simons, 22, of Butler, was charged with misdemeanor drug possession. Police said she was found in possession of suspected heroin.
Sept. 1 — Justin M. Sanderson, 33, of Butler, was charged with felony hindering apprehension and misdemeanors DUI and drug possession after police stopped him on Mercer Street, Butler City. Police said he refused to identify the passenger of his vehicle, and they fled. Police said he showed signs of impairment and was found with suspected crack cocaine, a scale, and a metal smoking device.
Aug. 31 — Shyanne M. Getty, 32, of Portersville, was charged with misdemeanors DUI and drug possession after police stopped her on Main Street, Prospect. Police said field sobriety tests showed she was impaired, and two stamp bags of suspected heroin were found in her vehicle.
Aug. 31 — George E. Hartman, 42, of Coraopolis, was charged with four counts of misdemeanor DUI after police stopped him on Rochester Road, Cranberry Township. Police said field sobriety tests showed he was impaired, and a later blood test showed his blood alcohol content at 0.123%. In Pennsylvania, the legal limit is 0.08%.
Aug. 30 — Matthew L. Bendel, 22, of Slippery Rock, was charged with two counts of misdemeanor DUI after he crashed his vehicle on Interstate 79, Muddy Creek Township. Police said a later blood test showed his blood alcohol content at 0.133%. In Pennsylvania, the legal limit is 0.08%.
Aug. 30 — Jordan V. McKnight-Smith, 24, of New Castle, was charged with misdemeanor DUI after he crashed his vehicle on Franklin Road, Slippery Rock Township. Police said he showed signs of impairment.
Aug. 29 — Richard R. Berry Jr., 61, of Butler, was charged with two counts of misdemeanor DUI after he crashed his vehicle on Evans City Road. Police said a later blood test showed traces of clonazepam, alprazolam and oxycodone in his system.
Aug. 29 — Tyler C. Williams, 23, of Pittsburgh, was charged with two counts of misdemeanor DUI after police stopped him on Kiester Road, Slippery Rock borough. Police said field sobriety test showed he was impaired, and a later breath test showed his blood alcohol content at 0.110%. In Pennsylvania, the legal limit is 0.08%.
Aug. 29 — James J. Schmittlein, 48, of Valencia, was charged with two counts of misdemeanor DUI after police stopped him on Old Route 8, Middlesex Township. Police said field sobriety tests showed he was impaired, and a later breath test showed his blood alcohol content at 0.181%. In Pennsylvania, the legal limit is 0.08%.
Sept. 5 — Kevin Lenz, 69, and Katherine Lenz, 71, both of Evans City, were flown to Allegheny General Hospital with injuries they suffered after the motorcycle they were riding struck an embankment while traveling north on Route 528 in Brady Township just before 3 p.m. Kevin Lenz, who was driving, was reported to have sustained two broken arms and a head injury, and Katherine Lenz was reported to have sustained broken ribs and a leg injury. Both were wearing helmets.
Aug. 31 — Sarah E. Penwell, 32, of Cranberry Township, was charged with misdemeanors DUI and child endangerment after police said they stopped her on South Main Street. Police said field sobriety tests showed she was impaired, and a later blood test showed traces of THC and buprenorphine in her system.
