Center Township to update traffic signals
CENTER TWP — Supervisors voted at a meeting Wednesday, Sept. 13, to have a company audit the township’s traffic signals for a replacement project that will tentatively start next year.
The township will pay Gateway Engineers up to $9,600 to inspect eight traffic signals. Bob Sloan, board of supervisors chairman, said the audit will take place before the end of the year, and the results will determine what improvements need to be done.
“Each intersection will be individually inspected, and then each one will have a plan for update,” Sloan said. “Once we have a plan in hand for the intersection, then we’ll start applying for grants.”
According to Phil Wulff, board of supervisors vice chairman, no traffic will be disrupted while Gateway Engineers workers inspect the intersections and traffic signals.
After the evaluation, the supervisor's plan to apply for an Automated Red-Light Enforcement Program grant to pay for the project, and the amount they will apply for depends on the results of the audit.
“It’s just an audit of everything to see what we have, what we need,” Wulff said. There should be no interference on the roads while they’re doing it.”
