Walter “Walt” Anderson, 48, of Butler, passed away on Sunday, Sept. 10, 2023.

He was born in Greene, N.Y., on June 16, 1975, to the late Joseph Palmer and Dixie (Heath) Young.

After graduation, Walter worked as a roofer for Coy Construction, and was also a caregiver. He was known for being the life of the party and helping anyone in need. Walter liked to watch WWE Wrestling and the Dallas Cowboys. He enjoyed sitting around campfires with his family eating s’mores.

Walter was the beloved husband of Melinda (Hunter) Anderson for 21 years; father of Storm, Madison, Ethan, Shaquala and Romello; brother of Dorothy (Timothy) Holt, Mindi (William) Lafey, Guretta (Ronald) Oravec, William Anderson and John Bickford; and grandfather of Janae, Riyah, Alaysha, Desiree and Allison.

Along with his parents, he also was preceded in death by the man who raised him, William Anderson; and his stepson, Darrian.

ANDERSON — Family and friends of Walter “Walt” Anderson, who died Sunday, Sept. 10, 2023, will be received from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Monday at SPENCER D. GEIBEL FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, 140 New Castle Road, Butler. A prayer service will immediately follow in the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made directly to the funeral home to contribute toward funeral costs.
