William “Big Bill” Shuler, 70, of Butler passed away on Thursday, Sept. 14, 2023.

He was born in Butler on May 8, 1953, the son of the late Regis and Elizabeth “Betty” (Ehrman) Shuler.

Bill worked for A.F. Shuler and Sons from the age of 16 until 1985, when he started with Etzel Masonry, until his retirement. He was known for being extremely hardworking, and a great husband, father and grandfather. Bill was a lifetime farmer, and a member of Laborers’ International Union 323 and East Butler Fireman’s Club. He enjoyed farming, riding and training horses, and camping.

William was the beloved husband of Patricia (Deal) Shuler since their marriage in 1977; father of William (Jamie) Shuler II, Christina (Paul) Edwards, Leeann Shuler, Amanda Fennell and Thomas Shuler; brother of Helen (James) Schnur and Tammy (William) Anthony; and grandfather of 12. He is also survived by numerous great-grandchildren.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, John, and a great-grandchild.

SHULER — Family and friends of William “Big Bill” Shuler, who died Thursday, Sept. 14, 2023, will be received from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at SPENCER D. GEIBEL FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, 140 New Castle Road, Butler.

A funeral service will immediately follow in the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made directly to the funeral home toward services.
