Transit authority OKs succession plan for director
Although John Paul said he doesn’t have current plans to leave his role as executive director of the Butler Transit Authority, its board of directors has approved a succession plan.
Public relations and IT manager for the authority Kelly Stewart, who has been with the Butler Transit Authority since 2006, would become executive director, and finance manager Tiffany Fosnaught would become deputy director, a new position. Paul said the new position occupied by Fosnaught would take on some of the duties Paul has as executive director.
“They basically have split my responsibilities between Tiffany and Kelly,” he said. “There is no set time for me to leave, but when I do, that’s what will happen.”
The transit authority board of directors approved the agreement after an executive session at its Sept. 12 meeting. According to Paul, the state had been requesting the Butler Transit Authority to have a succession plan in place for a few years, and the board was finally able to make arrangements this year.
“I thought the timing was right to get this taken care of, and so did the board,” Paul said. “It only really takes effect upon my retirement, or if something else happens.”
