The passenger of a horse-drawn vehicle died after she was ejected from her seat in a crash with an SUV on Tuesday, Sept. 19, in East Lackawannock Township, Mercer County.

According to state police, a GMC Terrain rear-ended the horse-drawn vehicle at around 8 a.m. Tuesday on Mercer New Wilmington Road in East Lackawannock Township, ejecting the driver and passenger of the horse-drawn vehicle onto the road.

The horse-drawn vehicle’s passenger, a female, was pronounced dead at the scene, and the driver, a male, was transported by ambulance with injuries of unknown severity, police said.

The driver of the GMC Terrain, Glen Fellnagle, 97, of Greenville, was not injured or transported, police said.

The news release did not mention the fate of the horse.
