Westinghouse wind power project selected by U.S. Department of Energy

A Westinghouse Electric Company project supporting planned wind power was selected by the United States Department of Energy, the Cranberry Township-based company announced Friday, Sept. 22.

The project involves deploying a 1.2 GWh utility-scale long-duration energy storage system in Healy, Alaska.

According to a news release, the project represents the largest, planned single installation of long-duration energy storage in the United States.

Westinghouse is partnered with Golden Valley Electric Association, Echogen Power Systems, ASRC Energy Services, the Electric Power Research Institute and Shell Global Solutions US.
