Rotary club, state arts council to hold Saturday presentation outside Penn Theater
Butler Rotary Club PM and officials from the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts will hold a presentation featuring Pittsburgh-based portraitist and chalk artist Erika Lalita Thurkins at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 30 in front of the Penn Theater on Butler’s Main Street.
Community members are also invited to join Thurkins in completing a commissioned piece for “Chalk the Walk” from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday in front of the YMCA and Emily Brittain Elementary School on North Washington Street.
On Saturday evening, the Rotary will hold its first “Meat Raffle” to raise funds in support of the Butler Cultural District. The event will feature side raffles and will take place at 6 p.m. at 432 Center Ave. in the hall at St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church.
The Rotary encourages visitors to bring their own cooler for the event. Raffle tickets are available online at butlerrotary.org, at the door or from Butler Rotarians.
