Keelan Dental welcomes second location

Although it has been open for almost a year, Keelan Dental’s Middlesex Township location is ready to leave it’s “soft opening” phase.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony took place Friday, Sept. 29, at 5025 Adair Ave. to officially celebrate Keelan Dental’s second location.

Owner Dr. Paul Keelan established Keelan Dental about 30 years ago and the business has grown from a small building on Main Street in Butler with four employees to a much larger operation, with two new buildings and more than 50 team members.

“It's been a great growth opportunity as a company,” Keelan said regarding the Middlesex location. “I have been able to hire some more doctors and hygienists. My goal has been to serve the people of Butler County, but also helping doctors grow and other professionals.”

One of those doctors is associate dentist, Dr. Andrew Ciesielski, who has been with the business since May.

“I enjoy the patients, I enjoy spending time with my colleagues,” Ciesielski said. “I pick Dr. Keelan's brain as often as I can. I think we are close to 100 years of combined experience.”

Keelan eventually moved out of his original office and opened a larger building at 264 New Castle Road, the site of the old McDonald’s.

“I see patients two days a week in Butler and one day a week here at the Middlesex office,” Keelan said. “The other two days a week I'm working on training the associates and others.”

The Middlesex location is at the intersection of Route 8 and Route 228, which Keelan believes opens up a lot of opportunity for the business.

“Just looking at the county and where the growth is happening, this is where I felt there was a need by looking at the number of dentists that are in this area,” Keelan said.

Keelan said the business is growing by the month, with an average of about 40 new clients a month come into the Middlesex office, while his Butler office welcomes about 150 new patients each month.

One of the people on the front lines at the Middlesex location is treatment coordinator Sarah Patterson.

“I think the (patients) love it,” Patterson said. “It's clean, well organized and up-to-date on all the modern technologies.”

Keelan Dental offers sedation dentistry, dental implants, same-day crowns and invisible braces.

“In our office we pretty much work in all aspects,” Keelan said. “Sometimes with root canals, other dentists have to refer you out. We pretty much do every kind of service that's in play. It's a one-stop shop.”

Keelan and his team have supported local charities and organizations such as Saint Vincent de Paul, the Butler Farm Show, the Golden Tornado Scholastic Foundation and others.

On Sept. 6 Keelan was named the William A. Morgan Entrepreneur of the Year by the Butler County Chamber of Commerce at its annual Celebrate Business Dinner for starting his business from the ground up and setting an example for others in the community.

“You have to have a vision that has to be about more than yourself,” Keelan said. “It's about how your business impacts your community and the people that work for you. We have done really well in Butler and now we are setting our vision on how can we continue.”
