Coroner IDs man struck by train as Butler Twp. resident

The Butler County Coroner’s office has identified the man who died after being struck by a train in the city Wednesday.

Officials on Thursday identified the man as Douglas Fudoli, 54, of Butler Township. His cause of death was ruled as blunt force trauma to the head, neck and trunk. The manner of death is still pending police investigation.

Crews arrived at the 200 block of South Monroe Street at 4:31 a.m. while responding to a report of a pedestrian struck by a Buffalo and Pittsburgh Railroad Company train, according to Butler City Police Department Chief Robert O’Neill.

Emergency responders performed lifesaving measures on Fudoli, O’Neill said. He was transported to Butler Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead, O’Neill said.

O’Neill said the incident appears to be accidental, but is under investigation. No charges have been filed, he added.
