VA Butler Healthcare prioritizing veterans for COVID vaccinations
VA Butler Healthcare temporarily closed its walk-in COVID-19 vaccine clinic at the Abie Abraham VA Health Care Center on Wednesday afternoon after running out of vaccine, spokeswoman Paula McCarl said.
“Our priority is making sure our veterans are given the opportunity for the vaccine first,” McCarl said. “We did advise employees they can go to the community. We are monitoring supply as it comes in to determine availability.”
The clinic reopened Thursday afternoon after receiving a vaccine shipment, and will continue operating under its regular schedule of Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. while supplies last. All veterans eligible for VA health care can receive the vaccine on a walk-in basis.
McCarl said the clinic was limited to ordering 100 vaccine doses at a time. The clinic can now order larger amounts, but the number of vaccines that come in each shipment varies, she said. Shipments are typically delivered two or three days after being ordered, she added.
