Young

James L. “Jim” Young, 74, of Mars, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday morning, Oct. 5, 2023, in the comfort of his home.

Born in Portsmouth, Ohio, on July 15, 1949, he was the son of the late Nathaniel Leslie and Doris May Cole Young.

Jim had been an owner/operator of the Super Duper Grocery and Jim's Riverside Grocery in Clearfield.

He served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War and was a member of Mars Veterans of Foreign Wars post.

He was an active member of Crossway Community Church in Valencia.

He was the beloved father of Michelle Spingola and her husband, Dennis, of Mars, and Heather Doheny and her husband, Sean, of Fort Mill, S.C.; and grandfather of Liam and Emma Doheny.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Thomas Young.

YOUNG — Friends of James L. “Jim” Young, who died Thursday, Oct. 5, 2023, will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 9, 2023, at MCDONALD-AEBERLI FUNERAL HOME, 238 Crowe Ave., Mars.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Crossway Community Church, 109 Davis Road, Valencia. Please meet at the church.

Burial will be in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies.
