‘9 to 5 The Musical’ showcases local talent

Ready for a break from the 9-to-5 grind of the workweek? The Butler Musical Theatre Guild’s “9 to 5 The Musical” continues this weekend at Succop Theater on the campus of Butler County Community College.

Performances are 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 14, and Sunday, Oct. 15, and 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 15.

Principals are Veronica Martier as Violet, Jaycie Frye as Doralee, Megan Flannery Manuel as Judy, Davlin Smith as Roz and Eric Vollmer as Franklin Hart.

The cast includes Zach Frye, Corbin McCollough, Carrie Persichini, Autumn Zapp, Matt Leslie, Carrie Allio, Stephanie Kobil, Eric Snyder, Chuck McMichael and Logan S. Andres.

Dancers include Caitlyn Delien, Kourtney Groves, Natalie Motter and Mackenzie Sandidge. Rounding out the cast are Sue Morrow, Andrei Pagnotta, and Liam Webster.

The show is produced by Justin Anderson, directed and choreographed by Robert “Nation” Booth with musical direction from Ken Smith and Jessica Sanzotti.

“9 to 5 The Musical,” with music and lyrics by Dolly Parton and book by Patricia Resnick, is based on the seminal 1980 hit movie. Set in the late 1970s, this hilarious story of friendship and revenge in the Rolodex era is outrageous, thought-provoking and even a little romantic.

Pushed to the boiling point, three female coworkers concoct a plan to get even with the sexist, egotistical, lying, hypocritical bigot they call their boss. In a hilarious turn of events, Violet, Judy and Doralee live out their wildest fantasy — giving their boss the boot! While Hart remains “otherwise engaged,” the women give their workplace a dream makeover, taking control of the company that had always kept them down.

Tickets are available at the door.
