Police: Theft at Cranberry Home Depot one of many by Georgia man

Antonio L. Bryant

A Georgia man’s theft from a Home Depot in Cranberry Township was one in a long line of thefts spanning a large swath of the country, according to charges filed Wednesday, Oct. 11.

Documents showed Antonio L. Bryant, 28, was accused of several thefts, potentially stealing a total of $50,000 worth of merchandise from stores in several states.

He was arrested Wednesday and charged by township police with misdemeanors theft and possession of an instrument with criminal intent. He was placed in Butler County Prison in lieu of $100,000 bail.

According to charging documents, police were contacted by Home Depot on Tuesday about a theft that occurred that day.

A Chevrolet Blazer found to belong to Bryant was seen on surveillance footage arriving at the store on Dutilh Road around 2:10 p.m. Police said Bryant exited the vehicle and entered the store to return items at customer service.

Bryant then exited the store, changed his clothes, and went back in, according to documents. Police said he selected three items valued at a total $205 and switched the bar codes so that he only paid $19 at self-checkout.

Police said Bryant had also been arrested by Ohio Township police in Allegheny Township over an identical theft where he under-rang items over $300 in value.

Documents showed that Home Depot identified thefts allegedly committed by Bryant throughout the southern and eastern United States.

His preliminary hearing before District Judge Kevin Flaherty is scheduled Oct. 20.
