Angel Tree program starting up for the season
Residents in need throughout the Salvation Army’s 28-county service area across Western Pennsylvania can begin signing up for Christmas seasonal assistance, including through the organization’s Angel Tree program.
Each year, children create wish lists that are shared with hundreds of companies, small businesses, churches and individuals. Gifts and toys are collected and sorted by hundreds of volunteers at various Salvation Army locations in the service area, then given to families to put under the tree for Christmas Day, according to a news release from the Salvation Army.
Last season, the Salvation Army Western Pennsylvania Division’s Angel Tree program distributed more than 100,000 toys to children. According to the Salvation Army’s website, toys should be mailed to the local collection site no later than Dec. 15.
