Halle in county jail on probation violation
William “Bill” Halle was placed in Butler County Prison on Wednesday morning, Oct. 18, after violating the no-contact conditions of his probation, according to officials.
In May, Halle, 59, was accused by city police of having alleged intimate contact with a 17-year-old girl he employed and counseled at Net Outreach Center in Butler. The girl is now 18 years old.
District Attorney Rich Goldinger confirmed that Halle was being detained Wednesday after violating stipulations of his probation. He said that Halle was placed on probation in June after violating the sexual violence protection order issued in April.
“He violated the no-contact provision of his sentence from his indirect criminal contempt,” he said. “It is also a violation of his bond, but that has not been presented to the court yet.”
Goldinger later confirmed that the violation was related to reports connecting Halle and the girl to a campsite at Kalyumet Campground in Clarion County.
Halle was placed under a sexual violence protection order in April, before criminal charges were filed in May. The girl withdrew the order on her 18th birthday in September.
The charge of indirect criminal contempt was filed after Halle allegedly violated the April 28 protection order, which prohibited him from having any contact with the girl, banned him from her home, and prohibited him from abusing, harassing, stalking or threatening the plaintiff and posting any remarks or images of her on any social media website or network.
On June 20, Halle was found guilty of indirect criminal contempt for violating the protection order after posting on his Facebook account.
Police said a post he made on May 1 resulted in the violation.
“I want to thank everyone who has tried to call, text, message, etc., with words of encouragement and support for me. However, I covet your prayers first for the young woman involved,” Halle said at the end of the post.
According to court documents, Butler County Common Pleas Judge William Robinson sentenced Halle to six months in prison for the violation, but Halle was immediately placed on parole.
Documents showed Halle was to obey the stipulations of the order while on probation.
Court documents for the indirect criminal contempt charge showed Halle is required to comply with all pretrial supervisions conditions placed on him in the criminal matter as well. One of those stipulations is no contact with the girl.
