Crews respond to vehicle crash on Dutchtown Road
BUTLER TWP — A bicyclist was airlifted to Pittsburgh after a vehicle crash along Dutchtown Road and Sugar Creek Drive on Thursday afternoon, Oct. 19.
The bicyclist was first transported to Butler Memorial Hospital. He was then flown to a Pittsburgh hospital by a LifeFlight helicopter to receive treatment for “traumatic injuries,” said Michael Schmidt, assistant fire chief of Butler Township Volunteer Fire District.
A portion of Dutchtown Road was to be closed for about two to three hours, Schmidt said.
Initial calls shortly after 3:30 p.m. reported a vehicle crash involving a bicycle. A helicopter was requested around 3:45 p.m.
Butler Bureau of Fire, Butler Ambulance Service, LifeFlight, Butler Township Volunteer Fire District, Butler Township Police Department and Penn Township Police Department responded to the scene. As of 4:15 p.m., state police were on their way to reconstruct the scene.
