Rite Aid closings won’t hit Butler County

While Rite Aid plans to close 154 stores nationwide as part of its recent bankruptcy filing, none of them are located in Butler County.

Nearly 40 locations in the pharmacy chain’s home state of Pennsylvania are set to shutter, based on it bankruptcy filing.

The pharmacy chain listed every location set for closure in bankruptcy court documents filed Tuesday, Oct. 17, but didn’t disclose when each store would be closed.

About 30 stores are slated for closure in California, according to the filing. Other Rite Aid locations that will be closed are in states including Maryland, Michigan, New York and Washington.

Rite Aid currently employs about 45,000 people, of which more than 6,100 are pharmacists.
