1 taken to hospital after 2-car crash on New Castle Road
BUTLER TWP — One driver was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital for evaluation following a two-car accident on New Castle Road in Butler Township on Monday night, Oct. 23.
Emergency crews received word of the crash around 7:45 p.m. Two vehicles were involved: a silver Toyota RAV4 and a white Jeep. The accident occurred just outside Sheetz.
It is unknown how the crash occurred. Debris from the accident spilled onto the side of the road in front of Sheetz, and the entire front end of the Jeep was torn off.
Scott Frederick, chief of the Butler Township Volunteer Fire District, said each driver was traveling alone. One was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital for evaluation, and the other refused ambulance transport.
The accident blocked off westbound traffic on New Castle Road for nearly an hour. While eastbound traffic could proceed, it was redirected around Sheetz and back onto New Castle Road.
In addition to the Butler Township fire department, the Butler Ambulance Service, VA Butler Fire and Emergency Services and Butler Township Police also responded to the accident.
