Coroner called to Butler Township crash Thursday morning
The Butler County coroner was called to a one vehicle crash in Butler Township on Thursday morning, Oct. 26, officials said.
Dispatchers reported the single vehicle crash just before 5 a.m. in the 400 block of New Castle Road, and said a homeowner woke up and discovered the crash had occurred.
Police said later Thursday morning that the crash occurred sometime overnight when an SUV driven by a man struck an embankment near the turnaround on New Castle Road. The vehicle went airborne, rolled over and came to rest on the vehicle’s driver’s side, documents showed.
The driver was pronounced dead on scene, according to police. His identity has not yet been released.
The coroner was called to the scene shortly after the crash occurred.
Butler Township police are still investigating the incident. Butler Ambulance Service, Butler Township Volunteer Fire District and VA Butler Fire and Emergency Services also responded to the scene.
