Train strikes pedestrian in city, second occurrence this month
A person was struck by a train and killed behind 331 Negley Ave. in Butler around 7:30 p.m. Wednesday evening, Oct. 25, according to dispatchers.
Butler City Police Department, Butler Bureau of Fire and Butler Ambulance Service responded to the scene, police said.
The person struck in Wednesday’s crash has not yet been identified.
This is the second time a pedestrian has been struck by a train this month. In the early hours of Oct. 4, a man died after being struck by a train near the 200 block of South Monroe Street. The man was later identified as Douglas Fudoli, 54, of Butler Township.
The Butler County Coroner said Fudoli’s cause of death was ruled as blunt force trauma to the head, neck and trunk.
Police said Fudoli was struck by a Buffalo and Pittsburgh Railroad Company train, and that his death appeared accidental.
