JACKSON TWP — Seneca Valley (3-7, 0-4) had no answers for reigning 6A WPIAL champion North Allegheny (9-1, 3-1) in the teams’ regular season football finale at NexTier Stadium on Friday night.

Powered by their dynamic rushing attack, the Tigers took an early lead and never looked back, cruising to a 49-14 victory.

North Allegheny entered the game with three of the top five rushers in Class 6A – with Logan Kushner, Tyree Alualu and Conner Frank all averaging over nine yards per carry. Kushner and Alualu put an exclamation mark on their strong seasons on the ground, combining for 186 yards and three scores. Both finished with double digit touchdown rushes on the season.

North Allegheny had over 300 yards of total offense in the first half. Five different Tigers scored a touchdown.

Tigers All-State defender Khiryn Boyd scored touchdowns on both sides of the ball. Boyd caught a 61-yard touchdown pass from Kushner in the first half, then returned an interception 35 yards for a score to put the mercy rule into effect on the opening drive of the third quarter.

Seneca Valley’s young players showed that they have something to build on heading into next year. Raiders sophomore Dajaun Webb – who led the team in receiving yards this season – caught a touchdown pass. Sophomore Cayden Parker also caught a touchdown and had a game-high 96 receiving yards.

“These young kids don’t understand that the Friday night experience that they got is going to be so valuable and you don’t see it until the next year,” Raiders head coach Ron Butschle said.

Seneca Valley’s young talent also flashed on the defensive side of the ball despite the lopsided scoreline with junior defensive back Jayden Price recording an interception.

Raiders senior quarterback Sean O’Shea is hopeful that their young players will build on what they learned this season.

“We tried to lead from the top down,” O’Shea said. “I just hope those young guys learned from us and hopefully they can have a good season next year.”

Seneca Valley finished strong after an 0-5 start to the year, going 3-2 in its final five games – including a three-game winning streak where it put up over 40 points in each game.

“We didn’t have as much talent as the other teams, but we were always willing to fight,” O’Shea said.

“I absolutely love the kids on this team,” Butschle said. “Football is life. You have good times, you have adversity, tough times. But there wasn’t one day during the year where these kids didn’t show up and give us what we asked. I can’t say enough about them. I wish the ending was better but I think we got better as a team and I’m really proud of them.”
