Marie J. Gossic

Gossic

Marie J. Gossic, 59, of Crafton, Pa., passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, Oct. 30, 2023, following a brave battle with cancer.

Marie was born to Donald S. and the late Alida E. Masyada in Red Bank, N.J., on June 26, 1964. The Masyada family lived in St. Mary’s, Pa. for most of Marie’s childhood, a place full of happy memories, of which Marie often fondly spoke. She and her family relocated to the Pittsburgh area in 1981, where she graduated from Pine-Richland High School. Marie went on to study at LaRoche College, Alliance College and Edinboro University. Marie retired as an operations senior analyst from PNC Bank on Sept. 1, 2023.

Artistically talented, Marie brightened the holidays for friends and family with annual hand drawn Christmas cards, each year depicting a unique scene. Marie also shared her creativity through her two enterprises, MarieWare and Abby’s Sugar Cookies, as well as designed the set for her daughter Abby’s school play, “Seussical Jr.” Marie participated in many craft shows over the years, in various locations from Pittsburgh to Kentucky. Marie enjoyed running and walking, having participated in countless 5K races and completed the Pittsburgh Marathon Relay in 2012 and Pittsburgh Half Marathon in 2016.

Always the animal lover, Marie will be remembered for spoiling the beloved pets of family and friends. She will be especially missed by Spike, Tucker, Lola and Lucy.

In addition to her father Donald S. Masyada of Cranberry Township, Marie is survived by her husband, Brian, whom she married on Aug. 14, 1999; daughter, Abigail; sister, Pamela (William) Pietrusinski of Dresden, N.Y.; brother, James (Melissa) of Louisville, Ky.; nieces, Genevieve and Teresa Pietrusinski, Allison (Nicholas) Nonos and Mackenzie Masyada; nephew, Jackson Masyada; and beloved felines, Baxter and Paxton.
