A man died and at least six others were injured in a multi-vehicle crash early Wednesday, Nov. 1, on a snowy stretch of Interstate 80 in Mercer County, according to officials.

Mercer County Coroner John Libonati identified the man who died as Anthony Eugene Mallory, 34, of Rochester, N.Y. He was a passenger in one of the cars involved in the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash occurred around 5:45 a.m. at mile marker 14 on eastbound I-80 near Mercer. An 11-mile stretch of road remained closed until about 4 p.m.

The wreck involved at least eight vehicles, including tractor-trailers and passenger cars, according to Trooper Bertha Cazy, public information officer for Troop D in Butler.

At least six people had minor injuries, Cazy said.
