Fire destroys garage in Clearfield Township
CLEARFIELD TWP — Burning leaves picked up by wind caused a fire that destroyed a garage at 526 McEvoy Road in the township on Monday, Nov. 6.
Multiple Butler County fire departments responded to the scene. According to Kris Bowser, assistant fire chief with the Herman Volunteer Fire Company, the garage was a total loss, along with some tractors and a car.
The fire started around 2 p.m., when the homeowner was burning leaves and winds caused it to spread to the garage, Bowser said.
Bowser said some of the siding on the house was damaged.
“They had the trifecta of fires,” Bowser said. “It just melted the siding (of the house.) They will be able to live there.”
No one was injured in the fire, which took a little less than an hour to put out, Bowser said.
Responding to the call, along with the Herman VFC, were the Butler City Bureau of Fire, East Butler Volunteer Fire Company, Saxonburg Volunteer Fire Company, Chicora Volunteer Fire Department, Buffalo Township Volunteer Fire Company, Oneida Valley Volunteer Fire Department and Sarver Volunteer Fire Company.
