Election night updates
Franklin Township was the first of Butler County’s 96 precincts to report unofficial results, with the precinct results posting online just before 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 7.
Out of 1,961 registered voters, 862 ballots were cast, with 718 coming on Election Day and 144 coming from absentee ballots, which equates to about 44 percent voter turnout.
In the District Attorney race, the only contested county-level race on the ballot, incumbent Richard A. Goldinger, a Republican, took 505 votes, or 60.77%, compared to 325 votes, or 39.11%, for challenger Jennifer Gilliand Vanasdale, an independent.
In the Franklin Township supervisor race, Republican Joe Schubert led Democrat Robert Thompson 592 votes to 253, or 69.57% to 29.73%.
The Butler City 3 precinct results came in at 8:30, with 265 ballots cast out of 1,275 registered voters, for a turnout of about 20%.
In Butler City 3, Goldinger took 133 votes to Gilliand Vanasdale’s 116.
Butler City Council has three candidates running for two seats. Democrat Daniel Herr took 125 votes, Republican Tom Donaldson took 135 and independent Troy Douthett took 123.
As of about 9:30, results had been received from 62 of the 96 precincts. There had been 34,086 ballots counted, with 22,340 ballots cast on Election Day, while 11,746 were absentee ballots.
