Mark McCaw
Mark V. McCaw, 65, of Butler, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, Nov. 5, 2023, at his home.
Mark was born on Aug. 3, 1958, to the late Van and Anne Kovach McCaw. He grew up in Butler and graduated from Butler Senior High School in 1976, along with attending New Castle School of Trades. He proudly served as a member of the Army National Guard and was a member of American Legion Post 778 of Lyndora.
In 1987, he married his wife, Tracy, and had two sons, Tyler and Tanner, who were his pride and joy.
Mark worked for 32 years in the melt shop at Armco/AK Steel, where he was known by nicknames including “Ladle God” and “F.R.E.A.K.” For over 30 years, Mark also ran McCaw Lawn Care, as he loved to do landscaping, lawn care and snow removal. Many of his customers became lifelong friends. When he wasn't working or at home, you could find him at the Burger Hut II, where he was a lifelong regular.
Mark McCaw is survived by his wife of 36 years, Tracy; two sons, Tyler McCaw and Tanner (Kelsey) McCaw; one grandson, Jackson McCaw; one brother, Keith McCaw; and a number of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one nephew.
MCCAW — A viewing for Mark V. McCaw, who died Sunday, Nov. 5, 2023, will be held from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday at THOMPSON-MILLER FUNERAL HOME, 124 E. North St., Butler.
As per his wishes, there will be no public funeral services.
In lieu of flowers, the family graciously asks donations to be made in Mark's name to St. Jude Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, or to a charity of the donor's choice.
