Butler native Aprille Young recently was awarded the 2023 UPMC Cameo of Caring "Advanced Practice Award." The award ceremony was held on Nov. 4 at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center in Pittsburgh.

The awards honor exceptional nurses who embody the highest qualities of the profession and raise funds for scholarships for future generations of nurses.

Young is a unit director at UPMC Presbyterian.

She was selected for the award due to her devotion to patients and staff, mentoring of team members, support of those experiencing challenges, advocating for patients and staff and managing safe ratios in her unit, in addition to other exceptional practices.

Young is the daughter of Lon and Sharon Oesterling, of Portersville.
