Daniel Clark

Clark

Daniel “Papaw” Duncan Clark, 76 years young, of Titusville, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Nov. 8, 2023, at UPMC Hamot.

He was born Aug. 15, 1947, in Portsmouth, Va., son of the late Merl E. and Frances J. (Smith) Clark.

Anyone who knew Daniel Clark for more than five minutes felt the joy and peace he brought to everyone around him, a joy that always overcame circumstances and tragedy. He saw people through eyes of faith — a faith in what they could be — and always helped to encourage and build others up. He lived with purpose and impact until his last breath.

Daniel passed away peacefully surrounded by his family. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend. Daniel had a very successful career as a sales district manager with ESCO Corporation for 36 years and retired to work as a township supervisor in Allegheny Township. He served in the Air Force for four years during the Vietnam War. After his service, he began attending Bloomington-Normal, Illinois State University with his wife, Kay, and the start of his cherished children.

He was of the Catholic faith and was a member of St. Anthony Church in Tionesta. He was full of life, and his heart was drawn to the sea. He was known for his great sense of humor, and he loved his children and grandchildren more than anything else on Earth.

Daniel was known as the “life of the party.” He was easygoing and truly valued people. He enjoyed good home-cooked food, traveling, farming and outdoor activities with his children. He gave advice of gold mixed in with life lessons to everyone around him. Daniel was an inspiration to his peers and had a witty joke for every occasion. “Papaw” Clark was truly one of a kind, and his spirit will live on forever through his family. Words cannot truly express the profound affect Daniel Clark had on his friends and family. In his words: “I love you, but you know that.”

Daniel is survived by his devoted wife of 54 years, Kay (David) Clark; and his loving children, Jason Clark (Trinket) of West Sunbury, Dusten Clark (Jennifer) of West Sunbury, Danica (Carl “Jim”) Hartle of Eau Claire, Colby Clark (Amber) of Versailles, Morgan (Shawn) Durr of Lawrenceburg, Ky., and Cintra Best from Wilsonville, Neb. He was dearly loved by his grandchildren, Cassidy (Shelby), Colton (Sydnee), Kyle, Madisyn, Alexandria, Bailey, Cydney, Ashlyn, Addison, Ella, Gabriel, Gideon and Ryan.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Steve Best.
