Sentence court
The following defendants were sentenced Tuesday, Nov. 14 in Butler County Common Pleas Court by Judge Kelley Streib.
Larry J. Lint, 56, of Champion, Fayette County, was ordered to pay $70,527 in restitution to Nationwide Insurance as part of the sentence he received for filing fraudulent insurance claims for losses at the Pig Farm hunting preserve he owned in Parker in Allegheny Township. The sentence included 60 months of probation including 12 months of house arrest.
A grand jury indicted Lint in February 2021 for filing three fraudulent insurance claims between January and August 2016 for more than 170 deer and Eurasian boars escaped on three occasions through a damaged fence at the 43-acre preserve.
Nationwide paid Lint $50,000 and $21,000 for two of the claims, but began investigating after a third claim was filed.
The state Department of Agriculture used bait, trail cameras, thermal imaging and helicopter flyovers for six months to try to locate the animals, but found no evidence of them. The business is no longer operating.
Jacob V. Dressler, 22, of Evans City was sentenced to serve 84 months of probation including 12 months of house arrest, fined $4,000 and ordered to complete 40 hours of community service after pleading guilty to his second and third driving under the influence offenses. Lancaster Township police charged him with driving under the influence of a controlled substance following a July 13, 2022, crash, and state police charged him with driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs following an Aug. 2, 2022, incident in Slippery Rock Township.
Derek Lewis Salmon Jr., 22, of Butler was sentenced to serve 48 hours to six months in prison, pay fines totaling $1,133 and complete 40 hours of community service after pleading guilty to a DUI charge filed by state police following an Oct. 31, 2021, incident in Center Township and a speeding citation filed by state police following a Nov. 9, 2021, incident in Muddy Creek Township.
Nicholas Robert Thomas Roess, 23, of Seneca was sentenced to serve six months of probation and fined $100 after pleading guilty to a charge of statement under penalty filed by Butler Township police following a March 17, 2021, incident.
Tina Louise Smith, 48, of East Liverpool, Ohio, was sentenced to serve 72 hours to six months in prison followed by six months of probation, fined $1,000 and complete eight hours of litter pick up after pleading no contest to DUI and reckless endangerment charges filed by state police following a Sept. 27, 2020, incident in Butler Township.
Jauhnausledyi M. Kemokai, 28, of Gibsonia was accepted into an 18-month Accelerated Rehabilitative Disposition program after completing the behavioral health court treatment program. She pleaded guilty to an aggravated assault charge filed by Slippery Rock police following a Dec. 8, 2020, incident.
Mitchell Thomas Graham, 30, of North Washington was sentenced to serve 24 months of probation after completing the behavioral health court treatment program. He pleaded guilty to theft and defiant trespass charges filed by state police following a Nov. 6, 2020, incident in Concord Township.
Rastis Oakley Marcy, 45, of Butler was sentenced to serve 12 months of probation after pleading guilty to a felony charge of retail theft filed by Butler City police following a Dec. 5, 2021, incident and immediately paroled after pleading guilty to two counts of possession of a controlled substance filed by Butler City police following separate incidents on Dec. 6, 2021 and Feb. 17, 2022.
