Trojanettes commemorate 10th anniversary in 1970
The Butler Junior Trojanettes had a banquet Nov. 14, 1970 to commemorate the 10th anniversary of their founding, which was attended by present and former members of the group, meant for children ages 8 to 14 or 15.
The Trojanettes were tri-state champions in 1965, 1967 and 1970, and took second place in the VFW state parade in 1969. The Trojanettes also took first place at Kennywood, Northampton and Cranberry parades, and second place at the Steelers parade.
The Trojanettes organized in 1960 with about 20 members, and had numbered about 40 when the banquet rolled around in November. A training group, the Wee Trojanettes, also formed shortly before the banquet.
Two 10-year members of the Trojanettes, Raylene Nanny and Margie Mudrick, accepted awards for the 10-year anniversary at the banquet.
