No one injured in Butler Township house fire
BUTLER TWP — Neither occupant of a Butler Township home was injured after it caught fire on Tuesday evening, Nov. 21.
The incident began just before 7 p.m. in the 4300 block of Partell Street. The home that caught fire was a two-story dwelling.
According to Scott Frederick, Butler Township’s director of emergency services, neither resident was in the home at the time of the blaze, and no one else was injured in the fire.
The cause of the fire and the extent of the damage to the home are still under investigation, according to Frederick. However, crews mentioned over the scanner that there were possible “hoarding conditions” in the house, and that the bulk of the fire took place in one room.
“We haven't gotten in there to look and see,” Frederick said. “There was smoke and fire damage throughout the house. We're just waiting to get in there and take a look.”
Multiple ladders were placed up to the second floor of the home to assist firefighters with escape if necessary.
“It was probably about 30 or 40 minutes until we called it under control,” Frederick said.
The roads of the surrounding neighborhood were choked by firetrucks and emergency vehicles, and part of Cupps Road, which leads into the neighborhood, was briefly closed.
The Butler Township Volunteer Fire District, Butler Bureau of Fire, Evans City Area Volunteer Fire Department, VA Butler Fire and Emergency Services, Penn Township Volunteer Fire Department, Connoquenessing Volunteer Fire Company, Prospect-Franklin Township Volunteer Fire Department, and Unionville Volunteer Fire Company all responded to the scene.
