Patricia “Pat” Ann McElhaney Verner, 76, of Hornertown, Petrolia, passed away unexpectedly the evening of Sunday, Nov. 19, 2023, from injuries resulting from a fall.

Born March 10, 1947, in Sewickley, she was the daughter of the late Francis “Fuzz” and Rita Deemer.

Pat graduated from Moniteau High School in West Sunbury in 1965. She then studied as a beautician and spent many years as a homemaker raising her three children. She later obtained her CDL, driving school buses for Shriver Bus Company, in the Karns City Area School District for 27 years before retiring in 2019. She was an avid Steelers fan and loved crafting, camping at the river, and taking RV trips all over the country, but most of all she enjoyed spending time with her friends and family.

Pat is survived by her son, Todd Verner and his wife, Mary, of Butler; son, Troy Verner of Petrolia; daughter, Samanth (Verner) Usher and her husband, Karl, of Vermont; grandchildren, Tori, Todd, Baylee, Tyler, Riley, Nicholas, Caleb, Nathaniel and Cole; and great-grandchildren, Keaton and Emilia.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Harry “Bill” Verner; her brother, Jim “Skip” McElhaney; her sister, Margaret “Peg” Bowser; and her grandson, Craig “Craigy” Sampson III.

VERNER — A service and inurnment at Bradys Bend Cemetery in East Brady will be planned later in the spring for Patricia “Pat” Ann McElhaney Verner, who died Sunday, Nov. 19, 2023.

Arrangements are being made by STEIGHNER FUNERAL HOME, Chicora.
