Butler man shot, loaded firearm recovered following reported robbery

Breaking News

A 42-year-old Butler resident was found with a single gunshot wound to his neck outside his residence at 7:40 p.m Wednesday, Nov. 22.

Butler police came across the gunshot victim while responding to a report of a possible burglary in progress on the 300 block of East Penn Street, according to a news release late Wednesday.

Police said neighbors reported hearing a shot fired behind the residence. No suspects were located after officers checked the injured man’s residence, but a loaded firearm was recovered. Officers determined there were no suspects in the area.

The victim was transported by ambulance to a trauma center in Pittsburgh and was in stable condition, police said. The injury is not life threatening.

At the scene Wednesday evening, city police said there was no threat to public safety at the time.

Officers are investigating.

City police ask that anyone with additional information contact Detective Eric Klopfer at 724-287-7743, ext. 220, or visit butlercitypd.org.
